Alleged Feeding Our Future bribery ringleader formally arraigned today

This morning, in the federal courthouse in downtown Minneapolis, Abdiaziz Shafii Farah was formally arraigned in the $120,000 juror bribery case arising from last month’s fraud trial in the Feeding Our Future scandal. He entered a plea of not guilty today to the new charges.

Farah was convicted in the fraud trial and was already in federal custody, awaiting sentencing in that case.

Abdiaziz didn’t bother contesting his continued detention, as his two brothers did to no avail last week. The entire hearing this morning lasted exactly seven minutes.

By my count, four of the five defendants in the bribery case have been formally arraigned. The only one remaining is the youngest: Abdimajid Mohamed Nur.

Nur remains in federal custody arising from his conviction in the earlier fraud case. He is being held in the Anoka County jail.

The preliminary schedule in the case has the trial beginning on September 16.
