CRT tour has struck a nerve

BLM tries to shut down Moorhead stop, one arrested

NAACP pressures venues in Duluth to cancel

Over 100 have turned out at each stop of the Raise Our Standards tour

The Center of the American Experiment Raise Our Standards tour attracted over one hundred participants at each of the first nine stops and now Black Lives Matter and the NAACP are attempting to shut down the conversation. One woman was arrested in Moorhead Tuesday night after disrupting the event held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. The Duluth Branch NAACP posted a video on Facebook this week calling the event “hate speech,” “overt racism,” saying “we have a racist organization coming down and preaching white supremacy.”

The Duluth event was originally scheduled weeks in advance at the Northland Country Club, but the club canceled the reservation two days before the Thursday event. The Holiday Inn then agreed to host the meeting before calling back and canceling the same day, presumedly after pressure from the NAACP and others. The Duluth event has been temporarily postponed.

Statement from American Experiment President John Hinderaker:

“The Left in Minnesota, led by Black Lives Matter and the NAACP are afraid of a free exchange of ideas so they are trying to shut us down instead. It won’t work. Hundreds of Minnesotans have participated in the Raise Our Standards tour, and we will not be deterred by these childish tactics. We thank the Moorhead police officers for helping us restore order at the Moorhead event and Duluth will be rescheduled as soon as we find a venue with the courage to host the event.”

About the Raise Our Standards tour:

The tour began Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Winona and continues throughout the month, stopping in 17 different cities total.

“Between Critical Race Theory and the draft social studies standards, Minnesota schools are being inundated with a leftist, anti-American agenda that radically changes how our children learn about their country,” said Catrin Wigfall, American Experiment education policy fellow and featured speaker on the Raise Our Standards tour. “We are eager to travel across the state to empower parents and citizens to fight back against the ‘woke’ movement that is transforming our education system.”

Wigfall has been joined on several stops by Kendall Qualls, former Minnesota Congressional candidate and founder of TakeCharge, an organization committed to countering the prevailing narrative in popular culture that America is structured to undermine the lives of black Americans.

Attendees are learning how to push back against the politicization of our schools. Each informational session covers the revisions to Minnesota’s social studies standards that are now in progress, the “woke” movement that is transforming our education system, alternatives to public schools, and how to get involved. American Experiment is also unveiling a new online tool and resource center to facilitate communication about activities in local schools across the state.
