Decline is a choice: Minneapolis says “Yes!”

Liz Collin of AlphaNews posted this thread on Twitter (X) last night about a new homeless encampment in south Minneapolis,

Her thread documents the unsuccessful efforts by the neighbors to get City action on the recently-formed encampment on a private, mid-block residential lot.

This morning, I drove down to see it myself and shot this video of the encampment from two different angles,

According to county property records, this vacant lot is worth $48,000, despite having sold for $57,000 as recently as 2017. Last year, the lot’s private owner paid $720 in property taxes. Of that amount, $325 went to the City of Minneapolis for the privilege of not having his property protected. I say the man is due a refund.

As you can see above, the City has thoughtfully provided garbage cans and pickup service, free of charge to the campers.

The camp appears to be surrounded on all sides by occupied dwellings on an otherwise quiet residential street.

The house next door displays this lawn sign,

Perhaps Senator Klobuchar can find time to pay her constituents a visit and hear their concerns.
